Common questions
How do I record a note?
While an episode plays, tap the mic on the player and talk. Tap again to stop, or just stop talking: recording ends by itself after about three seconds of silence, and at two minutes at most. A note shorter than a second isn't kept. The first time, allow microphone access when your phone asks.
My notes say “Waiting for transcript”
Transcripts need Apple's speech model for your note language. VoiceMark downloads it by itself while the app is open and online, and the banner on the Notes tab shows the progress. It takes about a minute. If you turned on Download models on Wi-Fi only in Settings, it waits for Wi-Fi. If the banner says the download didn't finish, tap it to try again.
The transcript is in the wrong language, or has mistakes
Choose the language you usually speak in Settings → Transcription → Note language. For a single note, open it and use Re-transcribe to try another language, or tap Edit to fix the text yourself. The original recording is always kept, so you can listen to what you said.
How do I get back to the moment?
Open the note and tap Jump to. The episode plays from the second you saved it.
How do I add a show that search can't find?
Paste the show's RSS link into Search. VoiceMark follows any show with a public feed. Shows that are exclusive to one platform, like Spotify exclusives, don't have one.
How do I export my notes?
Tap Export at the top of the Notes tab. Markdown and plain text cover the notes on screen, so search or filter first if you want only some. CSV and JSON always include every note. You can attach the original audio too. A single note has Export this note on its screen. Each note in an export carries a link that opens its moment in VoiceMark.
How do I make a share card?
Open a note and tap Share as a card. Pick a format (story, post or square) and a style. Turn on Include my voice to share a short video with your recording instead of a picture.
How do I get alerts for new episodes?
Open a show you follow and turn on New episode alerts, then allow notifications when your phone asks. VoiceMark checks the feeds in the background, so an alert can come a while after the episode is published.
Downloads are taking up space
Settings → Storage shows what VoiceMark uses. You can have played episodes removed a day after you finish them, remove all downloads at once, and choose whether downloads may use mobile data. Your notes are never touched.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your notes stay on your phone. There's no account, no server of ours and no tracking. The Privacy Policy explains it in full.
