Common questions
Nothing is showing up on my timeline
Wime needs location access all the time to record places while the app is closed.
On iPhone, open iOS Settings → Wime → Location, choose Always and make sure Precise Location is on. Also check that Location Services is on for the whole phone, and that Motion & Fitness is allowed, which Wime uses to record trips.
On Android, open Settings → Apps → Wime → Permissions. Set Location to Allow all the time with Use precise location on, and allow Physical activity, which Wime uses to record trips. Location also has to be on for the whole phone.
If something is missing, Wime shows a banner that takes you to the right setting.
Why is there a Wime notification on Android?
Android requires an app that records your location in the background this way to show a notification while it runs. Wime's says it is recording your timeline, and that's all it is for.
How do I name or rename a place?
Tap the stay on your timeline and give it a name and a category. Tap + in the category list for more types, like shopping, school or worship. Wime recognises the place from then on, and you can change the name or category later.
A time is wrong, or a stay never happened
Tap the stay, then tap its times to change when it started or ended. Wime won't let a stay run into the ones next to it, and it tells you how far it can move. To remove a stay completely, use the delete button in the same sheet. Wime keeps your change and doesn't recalculate over it.
A trip shows the wrong kind of travel
Tap the trip between two stays and choose how you actually travelled. You can add a note to a trip there too.
How do I share a stay?
Tap the stay and use the share button. Wime makes a picture with how long you were there and your note, and you can put your own photo behind it. The picture is made on your phone and has no map on it.
How do I export my data?
Open Settings in Wime and choose Share data (JSON). Wime writes everything to one file you can save or send anywhere, including to an AI assistant to ask about your week.
I deleted Wime and reinstalled it. Where is my data?
On iPhone, from version 1.7, reinstalling brings your timeline back by itself, because Wime keeps a copy in your iPhone's Keychain. iOS resets permissions when an app is deleted, so allow location again when Wime asks. Versions before 1.7 did not keep a copy, so anything deleted with them can't be recovered.
How do I manage or cancel Wime Pro?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple on iPhone and by Google Play on Android. On iPhone, go to Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions → Wime to change plans or cancel. On Android, open the Play Store, tap your profile picture, then Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Wime. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the current billing period. See the Terms of Use for the details.
I'm subscribed but Wime still asks me to subscribe
Tap Restore on that screen. It asks the App Store or Google Play for your purchases again and unlocks Wime if it finds one. If that doesn't work, email us with roughly when you subscribed.
Is my data private?
Yes. Everything stays on your phone. There's no account, no cloud and no tracking. The Privacy Policy explains it in full.
Will Wime drain my battery?
It shouldn't. On iPhone, Wime uses Apple's low-power visit and motion detection rather than keeping GPS on, so it is built to run all day. On Android, Wime checks your location less often while you stay in one place.
Some Android phones stop apps in the background to save battery. If Wime warns that battery optimisation may be stopping it, tap the warning and turn optimisation off for Wime.
